Citrix STA server

I'm not a citrix guy so excuse this newbie question.

Is it true that with a Xenapp server deployment, a STA server used to be separate and now they are on the same box? If yes, which version of Xenapp did having the built-in STA happen?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes, all xenapp servers have sta included.  Iirc ps3 or metaframe xp was the 1st version that did.

Yes the XenAppn now has the STA service integrated, the STA is the responsible for providing the Tickets for each connection.

This is mostly used when combining the XenApp with a Citrix Security Appliance like Access Gateway or Netscaler.
