Printer error 0x00000709 on 2008 R2 Terminal Server whentrying to set default printer

Hi,

We have a print server running 2008R2 and a terminal server also on server 2008R2.

Today one user when they have gone to print, there default printer was cutepdf. When they tried to schange their default printer back to the correct Xerox printer they are getting the following message

Operation could not be completed (error 0xooooo709). Double check the printer name and make sure that the printer is connected to the network.

The printer was working fine for this user last week and other users at this site have been able to print today.

Thanks

Sounds like they have a loss of connectivity or or lack of permissions on the Xerox.  I would try navigating to the UNC share for the printer (\\controller\printer) and make sure you have access to it.  Reso0lve that issue and you should be able to reconnect to the correct  printer.

The users can print a test page from the Xerox printer whihc should eman they can connect to the printer. Can you please explain what you mean by UNC share?
I don't beleive it has anything to do with permission, but added the user to the Print Operator group and still get the same error message.

This problem was fixed with an external contractor

We have the same issue here, what was the solution?

The external contractor deleted the users profile and recreated it that was the only way we could get around it.
