SBS 2008 bare metal restore

I am testing my restore plan for the year. I have the steps in the link below to restore SBS 2008 backup to a PowerEdge T110. the restore goes fine I can logon to the desktop afterwards and SBS console opens up. I can navigate My computer after I install the NIC driver and assign the IP address.  But none of the windows snap-ins  (DHCP, AD Users and computers, AD sites and services ) will open  I just get a long lasting hour glass until I reboot.  this server only one Disk drive with plenty of space. what is the problem?

is my problem caused by the fact that the hardware aren't the same specs?
Boot to safe mode and see if you have the same issue. I think it is caused by ur exchange but am not sure. After you restore the server check your network adapter settings to see if they are correct.
You shud have only one nic enable and it should have the right ip and dns settings as per sbs requirements. IP v6 if disabled(in-correctly) causes exchange to keep querying the active directory and related components and causes a similar issue as you have mentioned here. What happens if you unplug the network cable when you hav this issue. does it help?
If you have changed the hardware then what is specific has changed. NICs in SBS get GUID's which are hard coded in the registry and if changed cause a similar issue sometimes.

I will try safemode and see what happens.  I have not plugged a network cable in because this is being done offline.  If I were to connect it I would have to SBS servers on the network.
The has changed and that's very likely the issue as you mentioned. is there any way to edit that in the registry? I would think so, because most people don't have the same server seating there.

The NIC has changed.
In Safemode when I open AD users and computers I get error:  Naming information cannot be located because:  the network path was not found. contact your system administrator to verify that your domain is properly configured and is currently online.
What do I do?

any suggestions?
what kind of backup and restore have u used?? Windows server backup or some other image based backup(3rd party). Seems to me as a journal wrap situation. Quite similar to what you mentioned initially.

check sysvol(if it is shared), check shares and see if you see netlogon is shared.

For accurate troubleshooting please provide some events from the event viewer (file replication, directory services...basically ad related).

I am a free lance consultant and while working with one of my clients few days back i came across a similar issue. Fixed it with this(i am guessing u may hav the same issue)

neotiwary,

I'm using Windows server backup.
The sub sysvol folder is not shared and I don't have a netlogon folder.

Because the nic card is different I get the following message when I assign the same IP to the new nic.
"The IP address 192.168.3.15 you have entered for this network adapter is already assigned to another adapter (Broadcom BCM5709C NetXtreme II GigE) which is no longer present int the computer. If the same address is assigned to both adapters and the both became active, only one of them will use this address. This may result in incorrect system configuration.  Do you want to remove the static IP from the absent adapter?"

When I boot to safemode I can get to device manager to the Nic card but when I boot to regular mode I can never get to Device manager I get an infinite  hour glass
