Outlook Configuration Error 0x80040154

I'm trying to configure Outlook 2007 with a pop3 account and get the following error:

Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): An unknown error occurred, error code: 0x80040154
Send test e-mail message: An unknown error occurred, error code: 0x80040154

I've tried with a yahoo and hotmail account and have the same problem with each. An Exchange account works fine. I tried repairing the Oulook installation but it did not help. This is on 64-bit Windows 7, Office 2007
Any tips? Register some dll?

Hrm..

Actaully should have asked first...

Are you using a PAID Yahoo Email Account or are you using a Free One?

If you are using a free Yahoo account your can ignore the above as Using Outlook with a Yahoo POP account is only available to PAID Accounts....

Paid Yahoo! My collegues use Outlook without the connector, I don't understand why I'm getting this "unknown error"

have you tried creating a new outlook profile?  try that and set up one of those accounts

the Hotmail connector only works for the Hotmail account...

for Yahoo...   do you have all these settings ok?:

a couple more things...

by any chance... do you have windows live mail installed?

close outlook.... search for scanpst.exe and run it on your PST file (Inbox Repair tool)

see if that works
