Office 2007 Shortcuts Failing

I recently rolled out office 2007.  Things seem fine except that shortcuts to office documents/spreadsheets fail to open and give the following error, "This action only valid for products that are currently installed."  Also, all the icons are the generic.  Going to shortcut properties, the icon is at %SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll.  I can manually fix each shortcut's icon, but that does not allow the shortcut to open.  If I try to open a .doc or .xls all is good.  How to a get my shortcuts to work and the icons fixed?  OS is XP.

Sorry for the delay.  The above I had tried, I should have been clearer.  I uninstalled 2007, reinstalled 2003.  This worked save that outlook 2003 claimed wrong mapi.dll version.  I uninstalled 2003, deleted all mapi.dll versions.  Reinstalled 2003 same error.  At that point, I just nuked and paved.  Odd issue.

Yes, the problem with MS Outlook is very often because of wrong MAPI32.DLL.

I have installed MS Office 2003 and had a similar problem.

And then I have found a right MAPI32.DLL

This file is in C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder and C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 folder so rename these to MAPI32.bak.

Then rename a MAPI32.TXT from my attachment to MAPI32.DLL and put in a folder C:\WINDOWS\system32 and in C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033.

This MAPI32.DLL is correct because it comes with SP3  for Windows XP.

 MAPI32.TXT

Then go to Start button, Run and write next command:

regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\MAPI32.DLL

and press OK.

That file must set setting in Registry.

Try to open MS Outlook 2003.
