SBS 2011 and Windows 7 Client PC Telnet to Server issue

Hi There,

Anyone had any problems trying to telnet to sbs 2011  from a windows 7 64bit workstation?
I've tried installing the windows features and ticking telnet client on the win7 workstation and turning off the firewall on both  server and workstation.
Turning it back on and making an inbound rule for port 23 to be allowed on the server etc.

Basically the customer has a software program called cache which needs to telnet/terminal from the workstation to the server. It's only a basic internal network and used to work on his old SBS 2003 server.
It mainly just hangs before giving a garbled message of:-

TCP Connect failed - exception satisfied select
reason(10060, 0x274c) A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not respond after a period of time or established failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Would appreciate if anyone can help or has any ideas etc?

Many thanks in advance.

Have you tried disabling IPv6 on the SBS.  IPv6 will cause DNS issues if your entire network isn't using it.  You also will have to enable telnet on the windows 7 machine through add/Remove windows components

I would be VERY careful about disabling IPv6 on SBS.

Check firewalls.  That's your most likely culprit.
