How to rename Windows 2008 Domain name?

I have a Virtual enviorment for a home lab with a Windows 2008 DC  with Exhange 2010 member server and Lync 2010 Lync member server. I think my Lync Client user login cannot see the server because I named the DC server.domain.com and I should have named it server domain.local. Can some tell me how to rename the domain to domain.local ?Also what about renaming the Exchange and Lync member servers, will I need to rebuild the Exchange Sever?

I would suggest not to rename as it cause more issues. Instead you can create some DNS record for work continue.

Unfortunately, you cannot rename domain in this case because you have installed Exchange 2010. With this, it is not supported. What is your exact problem with Lync? Is it within your LAN or in perimeter network? I think that there is DNS wrongly configured. Can you tell us more about that, please?

I installed a Lync 2010 Standard Installaion

When I try to login with the Lync 2010 Client , I get a message that the server is not available.
