Windows 7 Explorer Summary Tab cannot be used to change Addin Title

Excel 2003 Addin manager shows the Title of each xla addin.  In windows xp that title could be changed using explorer summary tab and change the Title datafield.

In windows 7 there is no summary tab.  (And the explorer column named summary and title are unrelated to it).

The only workaround I have found is to switch to and XP machine.

Any suggestions?

Nor can you, so far as I can see, do so with Excel 2010 on Windows 7.  ... Thinkpads_User

I had another idea, but it did not work.

Some time ago I noticed that Windows 7 explorer also eliminated the "PDF Properties" tab.  It turned out the tab was still available to 32 bit application, just not 64 bit applications.

The only way I could figure to get a 32 bit app was by using adobe X File Open dialog with "all files".  Voila, it shows the pdf properties tab.  TRULY WEIRD, but it worked.

But, that trick did not work for the Summary tab.

See http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Windows/Windows_7/Q_27258982.html for details.

Is there a reason for not changing it in Excel?
Further to rorya's reply, why not rename the MS-Excel Add-in to a file with a ".xls" extension, change the name with the "Properties" feature of Windows Explorer, then revert the file extension to ".xla"?

Good Lord - is this a mirage, or are you back? :)
:)

I had a little break that turned into a longer vacation then a leave of absence following by a hiatus of activity.

I'm also "between contracts" presently, so I may as well be helping people for free in lieu of being paid for a living.

(I still do not like the site design/colour scheme though!)

There's an upgrade to a new site "coming soon", which may or may not make things better for you...
