Windows 2003 Server Hang

Hi,

I am facing issue with a Windws 2003 server which hangs suddenly and we cannot ping the server. We have to reboot the server. There is no error in the Event Viewer. How to troubleshoot the issue. This has happened 2 - 3 times and as this is critical application server the Management is asking for RCA.

Is there a way to find as to why the server was hung.

It is not that the ping is only getting blocked but the server is also hung. How to find the reason for that

It sounds to me like a hardware issue, possibly in the motherboard or RAM if it's just completely freezing.

You can try updating BIOS and drivers to the latest versions, but you may want to run some RAM diags to see how it does.  There are free memtest cd iso's out there you can download.

Have you checked the temperature in BIOS? It could be over heating.

Run chkdsk to see if your hard drives are fine.
