Space below menu in Internet Explorer

Hello,

Thank you for considering my question.

If you visit www.daysjewelers.com using Internet Explorer you'll notice a space below the menu.

If you visit the same site with FireFox, the space is not there.

The attached image gives a clearer representation of the problem.

I can't figure it out.

Yes, I know the html is kludgy, at best.  And, I know it should be rewritten.

Don't have time for a rewrite.

I'm looking for the *one thing* that is causing this so I can bandaid it.

Thank you very much.

You don't have a valid doc type so IE is rendering in quirks mode.  Try adding this to the beginning of the page:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

That may cure it, or may create more problems if there are IE specific hacks in the code.

Hello Cd&,

Thank you for the suggestion.

Unfortunately, I can't modify the live site right now.

I've put this on my own domain with your suggestion.   The space is still there.

Any other ideas?  :-)

(again, I'm fully aware there may be too many problems in the html to fix this)

Thank you very much.

What version of IE are you using.  It looks fine in IE9.

This is not a valid html document. There is a tool in FireFox webdeveloper where you can validate your html code. You have errors in javascript code with closing brackets.

Try to write a valid html code. Errors like yours usually appears when the html is not vlid.
