Insert rows in a spreadsheet

Is there a quick method to inset a a row between each existing row in an excel spreadsheet?

Without macro

Number your rows with odd numbers - 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.... - in a blank column using "Fill Series"
Number the following rows (without data) with even numbers for as many rows as were with data.

now sort the entire range on that column and then delete the column.
