"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

what are you referring to?

it is often wise/best practice to isolate your tempdb onto its own set of disk , due to the nature of the processing with which it is engaged... the actual requirement will depend on the nature of the systems you are intending to run in your environment...

you may wish to have several set of disk to accomodate the requirements of your tempdb...

what sort of system are you intending to run ...
how many users ....
how large ....
etc...
