"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Which ports are opened by default varies with each system. It depends on what applications are run at startup, whether you are using Active Desktop, which browser is being used, what processes and services are active, etc.

You can list all open ports using the netstat command from a command prompt, such as:

netstat -ano

Take a look at this government document to see how to get some detailed info.

As far as a default list, I am not aware of one. There are some that are always open, but then it varies from there.
