Email forwarded, user gets none

Is there a way to forward Emails from an account so that the person who owns the account never gets any in his inbox?
A user is going to Africa and the data roaming charges will bankrupt the company. He wants to bring his Blackberry and requests Emails be forwarded out of his account. I forwarded the Emails to another user and did not check the box 'Deliver messages to both forwarding address and mailbox.' Does this mean ONLY the forwarded message will be delivered, and not to the originating inbox?

Yes, if you leave the box unchecked it will just forward all mail to the address you put only.
