Is it possible to set up a shared Outlook 2010 archive folder file that will be accessed by two instances of Outlook 2010 at the same time?

Is it possible to set up a shared Outlook 2010 archive folder file that will be accessed by two instances of Outlook 2010 at the same time?

I have a user who runs Outlook 2010 on both her local Windows 7 computer and within a Server 2008 R2 remote desktop session.

Outlook 2010 running on both the local Windows 7 computer and within the Server 2008 R2 remote desktop sessions are both constantly running and being accessed at the same time. Furthermore, Outlook 2010 on both the local and remote desktop sessions are both being periodically closed and then reopened.

So is it possible to Is it to set up a shared Outlook 2010 archive folder file that will be accessed by both instances of Outlook 2010 at the same time?

I would like to be able to put this Archive.pst file on the server, which will be shared so Outlook on that the local computer can access it as well.

I have already tried to set this up, but the problem that I run into is that there is always one instance of Outlook which is unable to access the Archive.pst folder.

Is it possible to do this?

If so, please provide me with the exact steps.

PST files (including Archives) should not be on a server. Microsoft strongly suggests they be kept locally. And archives are unique to the main PST they are coming from, so no, they cannot be shared (certainly so far as I know).  ... Thinkpads_User

Does anyone else know of any way that an archive.pst file might be able to be shared between two different sessions of Outlook?

A PST file cannot be opened by two Outlook instances at the same time.

Placing a PST file on a shared drive is a bad idea; it can be easily corrupted by the remote Outlook because of network latency.

What is the server where Outlook connects to? If it’s Exchange 2010, you have online archives that can be used.

You could look for some plug-ins that could export the PST file into another when Outlook closes. Outlook 2003 and 2007 had this Outlook Backup plug-in – it is not anymore supported on 2010 but I was told that it could be made compatible with Outlook 2010 by modifying the registry. Again, this is not a supported solution.

PST file should not be placed on a network drive.
PST cannot be accessed simultanously by two Oulook programs.
The simplest way to solve this is two have outlook connect to Exchange in hous or on the web...
