Uninstalled system center, now all computers are going to windows update, need a quick fix

hi everyone, I uninstalled System Center Essentials 2010 which apparently also removes WSUS and now all of my lost with out their leader 300+ desktop computers are attempting to contact the mother ship [windowsupdate.com] completely congesting my bonded t1 circuit. Technet says to set up a stand alone WSUS server and wait two hours. I need a really quick fix, any ideas on how to stop all of these computers quickly?
thanks!

Can you add a firewall rule or fake DNS entry for the following

http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
https://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://download.windowsupdate.com

This will stop the machines access windows update and thus not downloading anything.
Deploy a group policy that disables Windows update on the PCs.  The same policy can later be used to enforce WSUS.

perfect. I ran a script to disable BITS and solved the problem. Anyone reading this be warned: WSUS is a pre requisite for SCE 2010 but if you uninstall SCE it automatically removes WSUS and all of your clients will immediately starting hitting the windows update website causing total network shutdown in most cases due to removal of GPO
