Please follow the instructions from thinkpads_user and let us know.
yes ... i was able to uninstall it... and i am back to MS ie8   so now the question.... is it worth it to upgrade to 9 all over again....    do you guys find 9 superior at alll?
i will add to that question by stating... a particualr problem is gone..

tell me if this makes any sense...

do you see the two orange buttons below... " preview and Submit"    in ie 9   they were virtually super imposed... now they are distinctly separate...

go figure that one.
so i think  with out a reason to,  might as well stay where i am with 8... what is your guys view.
IE 9 is definitely better than IE 8 (in my opinion). It is faster and smoother, expecially in Windows 7. And since IE 10 is soon to come, then, yes, it is worth it.

In IE 8, do a RESET as I suggested (clears out forms and passwords). Then, in Windows 7, open cmd.exe with Run as Adminstrator. At the command prompt, run SFC /SCANNOW. Allow to complete and restart. If it says it had errors it cannot correct, run it again and restart.

Then try IE 9 again. .... Thinkpads_User
You can always stay with IE 8 for a while. Perhaps after a bunch of updates, IE 9 might install better. I do like IE 9 and have it running well on my own machine.

If you do go back to IE 9, try the various view options and also try a Reset in IE 9.

By the way "preview and Submit" stay separate whether I use IE 8 or IE 9. But you can always try compatability mode in IE 9.

Also, do not forget to go to Windows Update and update everything. ... Thinkpads_User
I should also suggest that you update your Video driver in Windows 7 as that may be contributing to the issue with IE 9.

Then, in IE 9, Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, use Software Rendering (first Advanced Option) instead of Hardware Rendering. Try this first before the video driver upgrade.

intelogent - So did you get IE 9 working? or did you decide to stay with IE 8?

.... Thinkpads_User
no... it did not....
i have left my system alone... in it's downgraded state... and still MS ie 8 stops working every so often.....
we need to kick it up a notch.....
both 9 & 8  are falling victum to something.

any suggestions?

i will certainly try the grahic adjustment once this thing gets going...and i am back to 9

Did you try all the suggestions?  System File Checker, upgrade/reinstall the Video Driver?

Also, at this point, you may wish to consider viruses and malware and do a thorough scan.

intelogent - Any update?  If this becomes one of those "nothing works" cases, you may have to re-install Windows. Prior to that, please let me know about the above questions. .... Thinkpads_User
it has been working ok for a week, however it has frozen once. i am going to keep the question open for a few more days...
down grading to 8 seemed to solve the issue
