asked on
limit bandwidth per application
Hi Expert,
I would like to manage download and upload bandwidth used by specific application in windows machine.
Is there any open source available to do that? Or is there any setting in Windows group policy that we can set?
Thanks,
Rgds

A freeware is available home use: http://www.netveda.com/downloads/index.htm
To monitor the usage, you can use http://www.netlimiter.com/featurelistnl3.php
Windows policy cannot control that.

Thanks for you reply. Net limiter is not free. Netvada cannot limit bandwidth, just firewall.
Is there any other open source that can limit bandwidth for specific application?

Hi dstewartjr:,
The info you provide is great and useful one but it'll apply to all traffic.
Thanks,
Rgds

Only applies to "BITS" traffic, only a few applications use BITS primarily WSUS/windows updates.
