ASP.NET Make ModalPopup Disappear AFTER Calling An Object.

I have an AJAX UpdatePanel on my page along with a ModalPopupExtender.

The Modal comes up just fine so no problems there.  However, I have a button click even that calls an object to perform some processing.  After words, I tell Label1.Text that the line was added successfully.  If I DO NOT include the Object, the UpdatePanel works fine and the Modal Disappears as expected.   If I DO include the object processing the updatepane DOES work, but the Modal does NOT disapper.  Any ideas?  Because is a quick little snippet of what I"m talking about
Dim objSess As Mfg.Core.Session
        objSess = "Call My Object"
        Label1.Text = "Line Successfully Added"

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I am not sure of your context, when you say "DO NOT include the Object" and "DO include the object"...
