Dell PE1600sc IDE problem

Hello experts,

We have a Dell Power Edge 1600sc server. I am trying to connect an IDE hard disk and install Windows 2003 on it.

The problem is that, in the system bios, the HDD is detected as unknown. But when I boot to the Windows CD, partition the HDD and setup windows on a partition, and the server restarts again to continue setup, but it doesn't detect the HDD and boots again to the CD.

How to let the server detect the HDD to boot from it?

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
