Outlook Calendar Invitations - Recurring Event

I have a user that when they send a recurring calendar invite to multiple attendees, they are getting invitation emails for every event, not just the one recurring event.  So if an event is created for every week for a year, they recipients will get 52 emails for invite notifications.  This also fills up the users outbox as it tries to send 1000's of emails at one time and causes her Outlook to freeze.  This just started happening and hasn't happened in the past.

Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing or a way to fix this?

Hi Ryan, I have never seen this happen before. Are you able to replicate the issue with the user? Also, which version Outlook and Exchange?

Neither have I.  I talked more with the user and it doesn't happen all the time or with everyone on the invitation list.  Is it possible its on their end that receives the invitation weird?  Also, Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010.

If you can, do some more testing to see if you can replicate it. That is the only way we can see what is happening

I tried to recreate the issue with an invitation to myself from that user and it didn't give me more than a single email.  I had her create another event and send it to the person that did, and they only got one this time as well.

I'm thinking that since this was an appointment that was changed and not newly created, it updated all recurring events and sent emails for them.

My suggestion to them was to just deleted the entire series of events and recreate a new one if she needs to update it.  This seemed to work the best.

Thank you for all the suggestions, I have divided the points equally between you two.
