Dell 2850 Perc/Cerc 4 controller removal and memory allocation
We received a dell poweredge 2850 server as a donation in my organization. I want to use it for a centos 6 installation, but 2 things are happening that have me stumped:
1- The raid controller is not allowing the centos installtion to see the hard drives. I configured the array as Raid 5, intialized the logical drive, but still no luck.
2- BIOS tells me there 2GB of ram, but the machine is only allowing 256M to be used. I have no idea why.
For issue 1, I'd love to be able to get rid of the raid controller and simply use the on-board scsi controllers, if that is possible. I really don't need redundancy on this machine.
For issue 2, Centos is reporting that there is not enough Ram to install, even though BIOS says there's 2 GB.
Any help is greatly appreciated
