Search Engine using Views in Drupal

I have a database about sports.  I have a table that shows all content using Views.  I'd like to use a search bar to search in the table and show data to whatever sport I type.  But then, I'd like to have the ability to click on a checkbox, only 1, and do another full search from the entire database for Locations and Points-of-Contact.

I've tried using the Filters in Views, but seem to come up short.  I can get a search box to appear and even the 'other' search options, but I cannot get the 'other' search options to redo a full search on text I type into the search box.

Using Drupal 6

Any help would be appreciated.

What about these modules

The problem you are referring to is not first of its nature.. many developers came across the same problem and written the modules that can help you. You only need to find out the right module to use.

Thanks, though it does seem that Views have all of the functionality inside, I just cannot figure out how to use them correctly.

When in Views, I add a filter in the Filters section.  I add a Content Filter that will be exposed, which give me a text area widget with a button  to perform a search.  I'd like to be able to create filters and have the search to a complete return of the entire result set again.

It does look like it's available somehow in Views..."just how?" is my problem.
