dell inspiron 1545 keyboard mapping problem

I have been looking at a laptop for someone at work. A number of the keys do not respond correctly. For example if you hit the 'y' key you receive 'y6' in notepad.
I ran the dell diagnostic utility and it asks you to press each of the keys. I received the following error:
2C00:001D. I presume its not a driver issue if an error is returned in the diagnostic.
Does it look like it possibly needs a new keyboard?

sounds like you need to replace the keyboard. You can also try popping off the keys and cleaning under the keyboard with a kutip and alcohol. Aso I have seen where laptops get too hot and some keys can actually melt together and are both applied when you press one of the keys.
