>>They are not legitimate news.

This is why they ALWAYS rank last in the ratings.  It's also why liberal media can't survive.

Huffingtonpost, MSNBC, Air America...all bankrupt or VERY low in followers.

You need to go over to Media Matters and find us some examples.

No Cars, I don't.   I could find a memo from Roger Ailes or Rupert Murdoch to staff saying "Don't forget, were not really a news organization, were a propaganda arm of the GOP" and you STILL wouldn't believe it.

I know you guys think ratings=validity.   You should probably get your news from the Kardashians.

There's not much difference between commentary and news on Fox, that's the issue.  Their news broadcasts are few and are sandwiched between pure commentary shows, and every news report features commentary from "Fox News Contributors" who are all right wing pundits.

Further, their news reports often start with "Some people are saying..."  and who are "some people?" Fox news commentators.

That which you ascribe to MSNBC is really true for Fox except from the right, yet you ignore it.

Like bob beckel, alan colmes, Kirsten Powers, marc lamont hill...?

Even Jeremiah Wright was on Fox News.

Yes Cars, they also have their tokens who allow them to pile on.  You can't have a one sided controversy all the time, it gets boring.   But note that whenever there is a liberal viewpoint expressed, the ratio is at least 2-1 against usually higher.  With Beckel, it's about 4-1.

Note the difference in the questions posed to Democratic politicians and leaders vs. those posed to Republicans.   You'll have to take off your partisan glasses to actually notice.

You might be right.  People got bored with NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, NYTs, CNN, MSNBC...thus the creation of Fox News.

Here's a fun game,  every news story, no matter what it's about, when they somehow tie it to Obama and criticize him, take a drink!

Six degrees of Barack Obama?  But it depends on the story.  Easy if you're talking about deficits, unemployment, or failed stimulus.

>> You can't have a one sided controversy all the time <<

MSNBC's been doing it (unsuccessfully) for year.

>> it gets boring <<

Quite so, except to their dozens of viewers, I guess.
for yearS.
In other words, why are Americans so divided today over reality and what is factually true? There are surely many causes—but one is that a news network with a powerful sway is constantly sowing right wing misinformation, and an army of followers are watching and believing it.

the paper does a very good job of linking up the coverage itself with the reality denial that results in Fox viewers.

In these pieces, I identified 6 separate studies showing Fox News viewers to be the most misinformed, and in a right wing direction—studies on global warming, health care, health care a second time, the Ground Zero mosque, the Iraq war, and the 2010 election.

Global Warming- See ClimateGate.

health care - CBO says Obamare sucks, as if we didn't already know:
...would amount to a net increase in federal deficits of $226 billion over the
same period

I truly believe that liberals are the most ill-informed group there is.  Nothing liberals believe in makes any bit of sense.
Cars,

Thanks for proving exactly what the study says!  Talk about scientific evidence...

There is no science to global warming.  We already have proof that "scientists" were falsifying information.

Every time there's a global warming conference it gets snowed out.

Just to get to this conference (below) - Al Gore had to brave a huge snow storm.

Cars,

Assuming you've read any of the science on climate change, how does the story of the snow storm contradict it?

I know the real experts in climatology say we just don't know if  man-made "climate change" is happening or not.  (Notice they've changed the term, since there wasn't enough "global warming" to "climate change" -- now they can count *anything* as "evidence".  Of course earth's climate has been changing for billions of years now, so don't see why it should suddenly stop now.)

Many of those whining loudest about "warming" are those that in the '70s told us all the data pointed to huge, unavoidable global cooling.  [Global cooling would actually be a concern.]  Yep, they had charts and graphs showing steadily decreasing temps.

Hmm, so now they claim that the *same* data that showed cooling in the '70s shows warming now?  Yeah, easy to see why I don't believe 'em.

Even if man-made "warming" is occuring, no one knows for sure if there is a natural release to most of the heat for not.  Al Gore -- with his "D" in Earth Science -- claims to know, but that's just so he scam other idiots out of money.

In fact, very large numbers of the "warmer" crowd admit that they overhype and overclaim effects to get more money for their "research".
I haven't watched any cable news for at least a year.  Last time I did, they would air a story and then have people from both sides argue about what it meant.  Bored me to tears.  I prefer the story alone and I will decide what it means.

Liberals claim those that don't believe in global warming are ignorant, but those with the "science" behind it went out of their way to fit the data to their conclusion.  And rather than debate on facts, these scientist sought to silence critics with smear campaigns.

If liberals had their way, they'd throw trillions of dollars at false "science" and take down the global economy at the same time.

True, it's primarily a ruse for "taxing" America by "poor" countries.  And to have some global authority over the U.S..  If Obama stays in for 4 more, we could easily go that route, and suddenly find ourselves commanded by a climate panel in Brussels (or wherever).

>>  I prefer the story alone and I will decide what it means.

Without MSNBC, how are you to know that Romney represents the KKK?
Yeah, leftists hate it when non-leftists comment and add insight and knowledge to a story -- ruins their pre-determined conclusions.

Give MSNBC another couple of years -- they'll sell for $1, like their sister mouthpiece Newsweek magazine.

Right on Cars, except for that damn reality thing again.

"Climategate" has been widely debunked.  I know you're not aware of that because Fox News would never report such a thing.

The Koch brothers commissioned their own report on man-made global warming.  The result?  The scientists warning us about it are right.

I just can't understand why you guys have such an aversion to science and reality.

>>"Climategate" has been widely debunked.

Then why did these "scientist" do everything they could to suppress their research?  Admit the data didn't add up to their conclusions?

Why will Al Gore not debate anyone on this topic?
Why give right wing loons any validity?

>>I just can't understand why you guys have such an aversion to science and reality.

Reality is almost each and every time there's a conference on global warming we see that God has a sense of humor by Him sending a snow storm.

But I know - global warming causes everything.  Snow storms, hot weather, cold weather, rain, hurricanes, etc...  it's all caused by global warming.

Even if global warming is man-caused, all genuine experts admit it will take about a century for sea levels to rise dramatically.

So this bs about "sudden" flooding makes them very unbelievable.

Of course, in the past, the earth has heated and cooled vastly more than 0.8C or whatever they claim it has in the last 100 / next 100 years.
Plus, global warming would actually have a number of benefits.  That's often overlooked as well.
Great!  Now that that's all solved, how did the poor nations of the world manage to influence scientists all over the world to be part of their scam to tax America and give some other, less important less righteous country global authority over us?
Because they collected from the scam too.
You'd think that with all of our riches, might, connections, and educations we'd be able to find some real evidence of this scam?  Who are these poor countries that dreamed it up, and how were they able to implement it without detection to this day?

It boggles the mind I tell you....
Poor countries didn't dream it up, scientists did.

They tried the "global cooling" version in the '70s but that didn't bring in big bucks.

So they got leftist backing and went for "global warming".  The left loves it because it allows them to dictate actions to people, which is their primary thing to do.

Poor countries thought they had no reason not to jump on the band wagon.

But I thought it was too late anyway?  When Kyoto was up for ratification, we were told that if we didn't act in 10 years it would be too late.  Hmm, 1997 to 2011 = ~15 yrs, 1.5 times too late.

What, it's not too late?  Then that earlier claim was pure bs just to get us suckered in, huh!
Scott,

Earlier you made the distinction of "man-made" global warming - are you now changing to say that there is no climate change whatsoever?

Here's what this whole global warming nonsense is about.

http://www.infowars.com/un-calls-for-eco-fascist-world-government-at-durban-summit/

Bureaucrats at the UN Climate Summit in Durban have outlined plans for the most draconian, harebrained and madcap climate change treaty ever produced, under which the west would be mandated to respect “the rights of Mother Earth” by paying a “climate debt” which would act as a slush fund for bankrolling an all-powerful world government.
>> are you now changing to say that there is no climate change whatsoever? <<

No, there indeed may be some slight warming of temperatures for a couple of decades or so.  (Although the most reliable data shows the overall warming actually peaked and stopped in the '70s -- when these same "experts" were warning of us "global cooling").

The real intent was to hurt the U.S..

Huge numbers of countries, including Canada and most/all of Europe and Russia too I think, signed onto Kyoto.  How many of them actually did what they were supposed to do?  Almost none.  The idea was to get the U.S. to sign and hurt their economy -- and give more money away -- by actually trying to do it.

Clearly the whole thing was a cynical fraud since China was excluded.  China will soon pollute more than the U.S. and is building coal plants every week.  Excluding them proves the whole thing was not really about the earth or pollution.
>> harebrained <<

It's not harebrained from the standpoint of those proposing it -- it's what they've wanted all along!

For Beetos...

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9RTRDG00&show_article=1

In up and down year for cable news, Fox dominates
Fox News Channel continued its dominance, with an average viewership that exceeded CNN and MSNBC combined in prime time and for the entire day, the Nielsen ratings company said Wednesday. Fox typically had 1.87 million viewers in prime time this year. The top 13 programs in cable news all aired on Fox.
Guess they must be right then, eh Cars?
At some point MSNBC will be left on the "ash heap of history", like most other non-academic marxists institutions.

Maybe North Korea will need an extra news service?  They'd fit in perfectly there w/o changing their approach at all!
