Installing Exchange 2010 SP2 in a Child domain requiere run the setup/ps at the root is it safe?

Hi Guys, We are forest root domain with several child domains. We have severals e2k10 in the child domains all using E2k10 Sp1 I want to install the sp1 for a new exchange 2010 SP1 in one child domain but running it said that the schema ad is not updated and that schema is not part of the domain. The schema role is at the root server so I remember that the same issue happend me installing sp1 and we needed to run the setup/ps at the root so I think it is the same now but this time we have others e2k10 sp1 running in other child domain .Is it safe update the Active Directory running the setup/ps at the root for this new e2k10 sp2 if we have other exchange 2010 SP1 in the child domains.?
Any comments will be apreciated.

It's best to run it from the Schema Master. Updating the schema to SP2 shouldn't prevent SP1 servers from operating normally, since those servers won't use the schema additions that are put in place.
It is safe to update as the schema is extended rather than existing things altered.
