Blade Server as part of a workgroup on a domain

We have two domains across two geographical sites which over the next year will be merged into one.

On domain one we plan to take one Blade server and join this to the other domain and promote to a domain controller.  However when this server is taken off domain one and into a standard workgroup it isn’t accessible or pingable by IP from either domain and is only accessible via ILO.
Any ideas?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

No firewall internal to this issue.
Hmm if you have your windows firewall disabled, can you do a tracert [ip address] to see if your routing could be a problem.

Also from the machine you can't ping can you ping other machines from the server thats not reachable?
