Border in explorer vs firefox/other browsers

When I have table border="1" it all looks fine in explorer and other browsers. But I do not want to show the borders, border="0"

But when I do this the table in explorer makes a lots of "own" decisions, and it no longer looks so good. In firefox for example it doesnt matter if I have border="1" or border="0".

Any suggestions?
