I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You could leave the external OWA URL in exchange 2010 blank.

you need to change A record from your domain management DNS , i mean the external domain -> go to domain management -> DNS , there is A record called which is pointing to your real IP , also you need to change MX record from to , also you need to do some modification in your exchange to outlook anywhere remote domain from to . you can do these modifications by using powershell :

Set-OWAVirtualDirectory –Identity “owa (default web site)” -ExternalURL

Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "EWS(default Web site)" -ExternalUrl

then restart IIS you will get everything works fine ..
note that you need to wait maybe 24 hours until you got MX records updated ..
to check the MX records test your domain using :
or :
to check weather the DNS updated or not..

good luck
