printer calibrating for a long time

I have a HP Color LaserJet 4005 and I have recently replaced the image transfer kit with a compatible kit.  After doing this, the printer calibrates for 4 minutes before every print job.  I don't know much about printers.  What could be going on here?

It sounds as if the printer is failing to get a registration from them, either because of mis-alignment, component failure or the belt not being positioned correctly so the DC controller is forcing a DHALF recalibration each time the printer is powered up.
