Need help modifying SQL statement for Oracle

Dear fellow developers:

I have the following, working SQL statement:

Open in new window

The column "CLOSEDATE" is of type "Date".  What I need to do is also include this same date value in another column called "DATESTRING" that is of type VARCHAR2.  I need this date value to be of the form MM/DD/YYYY in this column.  How do I modify the above sql statement to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance to all who reply.

datestring = to_char(TO_DATE(SUBSTR(CLOSINGINFO, 12, INSTR(CLOSINGINFO, ' at ') - 12), 'Day, Month DD, YYYY'),'MM/DD/YYYY')
