Who is Participating?
I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

the same message arrived at my other hotmail address.

we'll see if my accounts are alive and well in two weeks.

I did not think it was legitimate as I have gotten similar "probing" messages from Ebay.

As far as what information they asked for:
Full Name:  ................................
User Name:. ..............................
Password: ................................
Date of Birth:...........................
Country or Territory:...............
I was always told not to give personal information to these generic mail programs. So, they already know my user name and e-mail address or they could not send me the phisher.
I did not give me real name or real birthdate when I signed up for these hotmail accounts. Giving them my country really does not help them.
They have my user name already. So, password is the only thing they really need.
If the REAL Microsoft wanted me to confirm my name and birth date, I might not be able to. I signed up with a phony name and birth date, taking the advice of other people by not using your correct personal information.

will close this when the 14 days are gone and my hotmail accounts are not affected.
I have had similar type of messages related to paypal, ebay, etc.
They are 99.999% phony.
