I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You're referring to the shortcuts for custom naming scheduled instances, right? There's no shortcut for just displaying the date, because there's no underlying CMS database field for just the date; only the datetime.  So, if you want to schedule a report on a recurring basis and have a date in the instance title then you'll need to use %STARTTIME%.  Logically, this make sense, since it's definitely possible to have more than one instance, per day.  The timestamp is critical to knowing exactly which instance to review should there be more than one in a day.
