scom vs nagios

Currently we are using Nagios to monitor our servers( mostly windows servers).
My boss wants to implement SCOM because most of our servers are windows. I don't have any experience with SCOM and don't know how it compares to Nagios. Is it more better and is it worth it for price that we will spend.

Better is relative, and also depends on your goals, since SCOM does more than just monitoring.

I would read up on it in technet and then decide.

I hope this helps !

ASKER

what else can be done with SCOM than monitoring. I thought that scom is only for monitoring
look at the datasheet

There are add in packs that provide for automated responses.

Linux monitoring is also available.

I would download the trial which is good for at least 180 days
