Outlook Out of Office Based on Time of Day


I'd like to be able to send an out-of-office message based on the time of day. For example, if a person sends an email to me between the hours of 5:30PM and 8:30AM on Monday through Friday I'd like to send them an out-of-office message . Also, if they send me an email on the weekend (Friday from 5:30PM to Monday at 8:30AM) they would also get an out-of-office message.

I'm afraid this isn't possible when using the Out of Office assistant, although it is possible when using message rules.

You would have to set up a new rule that triggers when messages arrive and configure it to look for the time ranges you want in the message headers.

In Outlook 2010 -> Tools -> Rules and Alerts
New rule -> Start with a blank rule -> Check messages when they arrive
Check 'with specific words in the message header'
The words to look for would be "18:","19:","20:" etc to trigger for mail arriving between 6pm and 8pm.

Not very elegant I'm afraid and maybe there is an addon available to do this for you.
Have you checked under the Advanced Tab after you click on the Add Rule on the automatic replies on outlook 2010?
this is not possible using  Out of Office assistant, however you can try the same using outlook rules...
