Install Joomla on Dedicated windows server, with error "session.save_path is correct (C:\Windows\Temp)"

Hi

We have a windows web server running plesk 9.5.4, which holds multiple client domains and their websites (php mainly v.5.2.13)

We have a new customer who wants to run Joomla. When we try to run the install, we got the error: "Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (C:\Windows\Temp)" and the installation wont get past the language selection.

I have changed the tmp location to a folder on the D drive and given the site access, and now the session.save error has gone, but the installation still wont continue past the language selection.

When looking at the process monitor, its clearly trying to create files in  d:\, d:\inetpub and d:\inetpub\vhosts

Can anyone point us in the right direction?

thanks

Steve

Check php.ini for session.save_path..where it is set to ? Is it set to correct directory..?if so check whether directory is writablle..Usually don't give temp directory of windows..use user accounts tmp directory for eg
session.save_path = /home/username/tmp

i have set the save_path to d:\sessions and given the site full access to it.. but still seems to have the issue with joomla being stuck at the language selection screen.

have u checked console of google chrome or firebug mozilla for any javascript errors..joomla 1.7 setup gets stuck while running on subdomains.. Rather using subdomain while installing use..directpath http://domain.com/joomla/
rather than joomla.domain.com/

i just checked in firefox error console, and cant see any errors at all

its running on a test link as we are preparing it before going live - http://[ip-address]/$sitepreview/bsdtravel.com/installation/index.php

should that be ok?

have you tried running phpinfo(); on server..does it shoes session.savepath correctly?

test link is ok..

if you want quick solution then that would be ,,Install wamp on localmachine..install joomla on wamp..after installation is complete zip the files upload to dedicated server,.Unzip them ,,, export joomla database to dedicated server..After migration set correct paths in Joomla Global Configuration for temp directory and logs directory..

seems ok..

session.save_path      d:\session      d:\session

i could do that, the only issue is, it would mean i have to do it for every joomla site we host which is a bit of a hassle

any other ideas before we go down that route?

try installing Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 1.6 for testing..If any of Joomla installation works then its compatibility issue with Joomla 1.7

Cause all seems to be OK ..

It seems that, when using site preview in Plesk, you get differing permissions compared to have the site live. After pointing the domain to the server and using the live domain, all issues disappeared!
