Server Stops Responding

I have a server that will stay on-line as long as there is a continuos ping to it. As soon as I stop pinging the server, it goes off-line and the ping times out if I try to ping it again. Is this server or network related? Is there a fix? Thanks

Can you ping from the server, when you are unable to ping it?

No, when you go to the server its locked up and the only recourse is to reboot it.

Sound like a server issue then, not the network.

Post more details about the server if you need advice on what might be causing it. i.e. what OS is it running, what type of server is it?  Is there anything in the log files when it crashes?
