Exchange and POP/IMAP mail on one server

Hi all,

We are currently running an Exchange server 2010 on a Windows Server 2008 R2.
I was wondering if there is a possibility to install a POP/IMAP mail server next to it, and have for example, Exchange passing the mails of unknown domains to the POP/IMAP server. Perhaps using functionality of the Hub Transport server?

Thanks for any input!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

you need to instruct the exchange to route the unknown domains to another server
since its owned hosted domains will be handled before the routing layer, creating the rule should be easy

you may also want to try not to be an open relay which is likely to be the case given the fact i correctly understand your situation
