Unable to boot into safe mode

I'm running Win 7 Pro... I turn the machine on, and press and hold F8... it will NOT go into safe mode.

Any idea why?  or how to make it happen?

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

On my Toshiba Win7 Pro laptop I have to repeatedly tap F8. Just holding it doesn't seem to work.

Sometimes, depends on the vendors you have to:
+ first go into boot menu (on dell should be F12), then, as soon as you made that coiche, press F8 or F5 repeatedly.

Cheers.

Most of the time F5 should take you straight into safe mode and F8 will give you a menu to chose from. However that can vary from vendor.

If you can not get either to work then you may need to go into BIOS and look to see if it has been turned off.  Again, how you get into BIOS is different depending on what type of BIOS but you should see something at bottom of the screen when you first turn your system on telling you hwat key to hit.
