Blue Screen error: Stop 7F, 0x00000008 (double-fault)

I have a windows xp machine that is getting a blue screen with the error number: Stop 7F, 0x00000008 (double-fault) . Everything I can find says this is a single bit error in the ESP register. What, if anything, can be done to repair this short of a re-install?

According to MS it is an error with the processor.

Have you scanned your memory or ran tests on the MB to see if you are getting any errors?

Check the MB for bulging or leaking caps
