Is this install based upon an ISO image that you downloaded and burned?  Occasionally, they don't work smoothly unless you burn the image to disc at the slowest possible speed before you attempt to use it to install the operating system.

When you get this error during install dont click on any thing...press shift + F10 together ...you will get a command prompt

Go to

C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log

You can open notepad and copy setuperr.log to flash drive and then upload it here.

This problem is directly related to OEM vs. Retail OS installations, and is specific to the manufacturer.

If the disc works fine on the average computer, yet will not on one that originally had an OEM installation...

OR

you can also try by
just re-burn the Windows 7 RC on a new DVD with as low a speed as you can stand. 2x or 4x should be OK. Some people are also saying that the DVD- format works more times than DVD+, but I think just lowering the burn speed should do the trick.

it may be due to a ram or disk problem also - you can run diags if needed from UBCD  http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

Hello

kindly change your DVD Rom and also change the disc in early troubleshooting steps

The error 0x80070017 translates to "CRC Error" which means that the files that are being copied from the disk are not making it to the hard drive with the same structure, meaning that the "original" files on the disk are being modified/changed/corrupted while being copied to the "destination" location on your hard drive during the install.

This usually means either a bad DVD, or a read error on the DVD drive.

if this above mentioned is not working troubleshoot the health of hard drive
hope all will work

Hey Budd,

I agree with "infoplateform" this basically means your have a BAD Disc or dying HDD..

You can run Defrag on the HDD and try to install this and see if that works for you ..

Keep me posted.

Thanks..
