Oracle fails to start - 10g

I have altered the spfile using vi in order to increase the parameter "processes".
Then, after the change was performed, it was not possible to restart the database due to the error below.
The files are there and have all permission needed.

SQL> startup
ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '/opt/oraclea/product/10.2.0/dbs/initDP8A.ora'
SQL>

Any tips about how can I have the database up again?

you should not edit spfile direct
spfile : spfileDP8A.ora
pfile:  initDP8A.ora

1.mv   initDP8A.ora   initDP8A.ora.bak  and oracle with start with spfile not pfile
or
2.
use vi create a new pfile and start with it

startup pfile='/opt/oraclea/product/10.2.0/dbs/initDP8A.ora'

The SPFILE is binary file and must not be edited in an editor. When you altered it by yourself you probably made it invalid/corrupted.

Create a new file using the parameters you wrote above e save it as '/opt/oraclea/product/10.2.0/dbs/initDP8A.ora'.

Then start your DB using SQLPLus and the command:
startup pfile='/opt/oraclea/product/10.2.0/dbs/initDP8A.ora'

After the startup you may recreate the spfile using:
create spfile = '/opt/oraclea/product/10.2.0/dbs/initDP8A.ora'
from pfile = '/opt/oraclea/product/10.2.0/dbs/spfile.ora';

After that shutdown and then startup again:
shutdown immediate
startup
