gmail notification

A client has a gmail account which is registered under another domain name. She receives confidential information so she can't be notified about mail coming in by forwarding it to another email address.

How can she be notified of the existence of mail in the gmail based account without actually going to gmail directly?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Would the gmail notifier work for her?

If not does she have a phone with a data plan where she could setup the gmail account to be an additional e-mail account accessed via the phone?

Hello. I wanted to check in and see if the suggestion posted so far had helped you to address the issue, or if we should continue posting up some more ideas? If the suggestions so far will not work for you perhaps you could give some more detail as to what you need to accomplish and we can see what else might work.

Your idea helped me and led to my looking into Google talk. However, it was inadequate and I found a freeware application called Spiffy that does the trick.
