You can only recover a machine if you have a valid mksysb image of this machine's rootvg.

The classic way is then:

- Set up a NIM master server (part of the AIX base).

The required fileset are:

-  Create an mksysb NIM resource out of the client's existing mksysb file.

-  Create a SPOT out of this resource. Again, use "smitty nim"
A SPOT is something like a /usr filesystem which is used during the net boot process to build what in the Linux world id called an Initial RAM Disk.

- Define a client (the machine to be recovered) on the master. ("smitty nim", what else).

- Set up this machine to boot over the net and to restore the mksysb.

- Boot the client machine into SMS, then configure the network adapter as the boot medium, configure client IP, master IP, gateway and mask.

- Boot over the net. The restoration of the mksysb image will start.

- When finished, the client reboots from disk.

- Done.

Here is a short HOWTO:

and here is the Redbook:

PXE is for INTEL style processors exclusively, and AIX does not run on that architecture.

So the answer is: No, you can't.

Can I boot off the network with AIX ?

Cloud Class® Course: SQL Server Core 2016

This course will introduce you to SQL Server Core 2016, as well as teach you about SSMS, data tools, installation, server configuration, using Management Studio, and writing and executing queries.

... Which doesn't mean that you can't boot an AIX box over the net!
Instead of a PXE server you'll need a network boot server, e.g a NIM server (which is basically a bootp server) to accomplish this.
