Setting up a XenApp environment is a complete project by itself. Where you need to design the environment, analyze the infrastructure and applications, decide on hardware requirements etc... And if you want to access the applications remotely through the internet, you will also need to setup secure gateway or access gateway or other means like vpn.

You need to do a proof of concept to determine the sizing of your environment, that is how many application silos? how many users will be accessing each silo? How many servers to host for each silo depending on the hardware allocated and how much capacity the server can provide? Host apps vs. stream apps. - see the link of a previous EE question giving a lot of insights from different experts on hardware information and setting up a pilot test: http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Server/2003_Server/Q_27507145.html

For more information on different benchmarks and lab tests supporting the notion that every environment is unique also see the different valuable inputs from different experts:

Step-by-step installation of xenapp is available with screenshots in the following website. Along with Videos. You can add your email ID to download installation of xenapp5 ebook and many more. Helps you to build your environment from the scratch. Same practices can be followed on all other xenapp versions.

Hi,

You can get basic installation and confguring guides from Citrix docs. While installing and configuring there are some key points to think:

1) Roaming profile or local profile: you may set the logons to use a local profile or roaming profile.
2) Security : If its intranet then a simple WI would suffice. but if you plan it to be accessible from internet then you'll need to think about deploying CSG or CAG.
3) Adding user groups to published applications rather than adding single users each time.
4) Deciding on number of Licenses. This would inclusive of TS and citrix license. TS licenses would depend on number of users and Citrix license would depend on number of concurrent users.
