Sharepoint User Profile Error 11706, 6398

HI I am getting the following 2 errors for the User Profile Service Applications in a newly set up Sharepoint 2010 environment.

1. Product: Microsoft User Profiles -- Error 1706. An installation package for the product Microsoft User Profiles cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'pplwfe.msi'.

2. The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfileImportJob (ID d3956180-2a95-4779-9ec6-50f861acb136) threw an exception. More information is included below.

Generic failure

Now with these errors, I am not able to sync the User Profile. Any help how to fix this will be deeply appreciated.

Hi Busapps,

1. Please make sure your service account and synchronization account have proper permissions to the databases and AD.

2. Please go to timer jobs to kick off the user profile synchronization timer jobs manually to check the result. if it works, please add Network Service with Read & Execute permissions for C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14 folder and Scheduled Job started to work on schedule.

3. Or you can try granting "Modify" permission to the NT Authority\Network Service account on the Office Server installation folder (\14 folder) and its subfolders

hth,
