Feature films for soft skils

Dear experts,

I was wondering if any one in this forum could help me with either a list of feature films (movies) or any forum which depict good soft skills (include language) generally expected in the western world.

Wish you al a Very Happy New Year.

Thank you,

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

A web search yields too many written "soft skills" type articles to list here ... this is just one example

There are also some videos on youtube and other video sites ... this being just one example

"Good Will Hunting" was an excellent show that portrayed many soft skills in its characters. What sorts of soft skills are you hoping to find?

Thank you for the comment. Wish you a Happy New Year.

Recently I have joined MNC, so I am curious to learn the local practices in UK. I am looking more for people handling skills in office environment.

Thank you

I can tell you what *not* to guage soft skills on: "Office Space" and "The Office". Despite their names, they are based on satires of the realities within many offices (the things that drive people crazy are amplified) These could be good to watch for humor and a way to know what is *not* enjoyed in the office - haha

Good soft skills can be found in most legal based movies or tv shows. "Boston Legal" is a TV show that has reasonably good soft skills.

is the top 25 legal movies (though that is one panel of opinions that are likely based on the case, not the conversational soft skills)

*Tip* The best soft skill to learn is to LISTEN to a person when they are speaking. Listening consists of taking in their meaning, emotion, body language and responding, when it is your turn to speak, with meaningful and respectful content.

Thank you for the comment. I have looked at the list which is very good, and i have two of these.

Your last para is/was/always very true.

I will tell you my problem. I try to keenly list to people, but after 5 minutes my attention goes to a different world and it is almost like day dreaming and then my attention is back to the discussion after a couple of mintures 2-4 minutes.

this is one of my problems and this has been with me ever since my childhood days. I do not know what the problem is and i have never consulted a doctor. Same happens at times when i reading books. this actually takes away lot of my time or lot of times gets wasted.

another is I hear, listen and then i do not quickly analyse the content, but at the back of my mind the analysis happens and then i start whether this new thought could be the probable interpreation.

To counter these situations and ensure my intergrity is office is retained I am looking for these movies where they demonstrate these skills.

Thank you,

This is an excellent document that addresses your concerns and turns hearing into listening:

Would you believe the average attention span is only 7 seconds? You are normal. Very normal.

Thank you once again.

I will keep this open for a few more days, if some one else in the forum has to share anything they wish to.
