Hello, you require x86 bit. If you have windows 7 then ok, otherwise you require to install powershell first before installing the sql server 2008 R2.
SQL Server 2008 R2 can run on 64bit environments.

You have Windows Server 2008 R2 SP 1 64 bit which is well serported for installing  SQL Server 2008 R2.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506.aspx

you have Sql Server 2005 Express installed as the default database AND you are trying to Install SQL Server 2008 R2 as teh default instance.
You can either remove the 2005 instance ,backing up all databasesand then proceed with teh install or you make the sql server 2008 rs2 install a named instance.
Before installing the 2008 tools, you need to remove any and all "shared" components from 2005. Try going to your Add/Remove programs control panel, find Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and click "Change." Then choose "Workstation Components" and remove everything there (this will not remove your database engine).
I don't think that is the problems as I do not have sql server 2005 installed.
Not sure why i'm receiving suggestions for a Windows 7 machine when the problem is on a Windows Server 2008.
I believe they are referencing this portion of your log.

I see, thank you Dustin...:)  I still need help and I'm stumped....don't know why I cannot install.
Did you remove SQL Server 2005 client tools?

They were probably part of an installation of another application
Yes, then I tried installing again and no luck same issue.
you may need to reinstall .NET Framework 3.5 SP11
thanks, will try that
Just to narrow down possible causes, please try reducing your installation to just the database services and leave out all the extra features for now.

Try installing as a named instance, and let it use the default Local or Network service accounts for the services.

Does this server have UAC turned on?

yes, I do.  should I disable it?
Might be worth a shot, as a troubleshooting step.
Tried that still doesn't work.
If you go to Start, Run, and launch Winver.exe, does it say anything about being a Checked/Debug build?
Yes it says Debug.
Therein lies the problem; you won't be able to install a normal version of SQL on a Debug/Checked version of Windows Server.
Thank you Dustin!
