DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT datafiles from 1 path on primary to multiple paths on standby

Hi,

Can I use DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT to convert from 1 primary path to multiple paths on the standby?  If yes please provide the syntax.  is this valid:

db_file_name_convert=/oracle/oradata/ to /dup/oracle/oradata/ and /dup1/oracle/oradata

Thanks.

You would need to list ALL the files separately like this:

db_file_name_convert=(/oracle/oradata/orcl/sysaux01.dbf,/dup/oracle/oradata/orcl/,
/oracle/oradata/orcl/system01.dbf,/dup/oracle/oradata/orcl/,
/oracle/oradata/orcl/undotbs01.dbf,/dup/oracle/oradata/orcl/,
/oracle/oradata/orcl/data01.dbf,/dup1/oracle/oradata/orcl/,
/oracle/oradata/orcl/index01.dbf,/dup1/oracle/oradata/orcl/,
/oracle/oradata/orcl/tools.dbf,/dup1/oracle/oradata/orcl/,
/oracle/oradata/orcl/users01.dbf,/dup1/oracle/oradata/orcl/)

just to clarify the question.  I want to convert the datafiles from 1 location to multiple locations on the standby since the space is limited on 1 location.

The short answer to your question is NO.

You can convert multiple locations to multiple locations or multiple locations to single location.

To convert multiple locations to multiple locations, you need to pair the source and target locations in a list:
db_file_name_convert=(/oracle/oradata/orcl/,/dup/oracle/oradata/orcl/,/oracle/oradata/orcl2/,/dup/oracle/oradata/orcl2/... You get the idea.
Alternatively, you'll need to specify file by file like MikeOM_DBA suggests above.

Richard.
