Slow Precision 380

I have an old Dell precision 380 and I am running Dreamweaver CS3 with XP

The machine seems very slow and I wonder if I should give up with this machine or can I change anything which will produce more speed?

The settings in system information

x86 Famiy 15 Model 4 Stepping 1 GenuineIntel~2793 Mhz
Total Physical memory 1024 MB
Available Physical memory 299.43 MB
Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB
Available Virtual memory 1.96

Thanks for any help
John

I would Re-install XP to start. This puts your machine back to like new. Of course backup data prior.
Then up your Physical Memory to at least 2048 MB.
Reload Programs and data.
Set your Virtual memory to windows managed.
Cost to do this $20.00

Then if you are still dis-satisfied, invest in a new machine.

Memory upgrade first.

From here http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/Dell-memory/Precision+WorkStation/Precision+WorkStation+380-upgrades.html this will take 8 Gb of memory.  You only need 4 Gb of memory as you are running XP (I presume 32 bit Windows XP).

Upgrade to 4 Gb of memory.

You can also upgrade the processor to a Pentium D (dual core).  See http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ws380/en/ug/A04/findinfo.htm#wp1054387
